My beloved Brother SE400 certainly presses all the right buttons for me! I am completely addicted to transforming garments, items of clothing – or indeed any item that could have buttons sewn on it! It is absolutely amazing exactly how much it completely changes the look of something and gives it a new lease of life, literally from just changing the buttons! BUT not just any buttons! I didn’t know these existed until recently. You can buy buttons that you then can cover with a fabric of your choice. I believe they are used all the time on bridal dresses. However, along with my embroidery machine, I embroider tiny motifs onto the fabric first, cut it out to the correct size and then cover my button, giving a totally unique look. The latest ones were pretty white daisies with a yellow centre, embroidered onto lemon fabric. These were sewn onto the front of my nieces summer dress and I made her a matching headband with a row of the daisy buttons across the entire length of the band! Ladybirds next!!
